3 yrs ago, I decided it was time for me to give back to my community, I wanted to run for city council. A strong asset is my common sense. I don't make rash decisions, I wait to get all available information, then ponder facts. We can make this the best place we can, to live in, I love Riverton & the sense of family it embraces/promotes. Let's take what is right with Riverton, build upon it to make it stronger.

Water ISSUE
Let me just say--right now, I do not like the drinking water here in Riverton, either. I wish I could promise you that if you, but vote for me, it will all be magically changed with new technology. Unfortunately, this is an age old problem, and new technology COSTS money---lots of it. There was a feasability study done by Epic Engineers in 2008. At that time, it would have cost approx 19 million to update all the pump houses and then the cost to buy water from somewhere else, would (again approx) triple our water bill. That was three years ago, not sure what inflation would do to those figures, but I am thinking it probably would cost even more. There is a different "modern technology" to "make" our water better, and those procedures are called EDR and RO (RO--also known as purple light/ultra violet). The problem with these procedures is it produces a by product waste water, which we would not be able to dump anywhere. We cannot put it in the Jordan River, nor will anywhere else accept the waste water. Again, this solution, if available, would cost the taxpayers alot of money. Trust me, if there were an easy, affordable solution, I would be all for it, but I do not believe the citizens want to pay the cost of water improvments. We only drink 1-2% of the culinary water, the rest is used for washing clothes, dishes, bathing and etc. Now maybe we would dring a little more than 1% if it only tasted better--you get my jest. If you have any questions on this, please contact me at my e-amil address or you could also call and talk to the city water deptartment, they are more than willing to explain it in further detail. I took a few hours when I decided to run for city council and talked to the water dept manager about this and other issues they are facing, I got a pretty good understanding about why this is not economically feasable to do.
